James Stewart Hope, Captain (Retired) CD DFC
Passed away peacefully at Trenton Memorial Hospital, Ontario, on Thursday, November 8, 2012, in his 92nd year.
Beloved husband of Jo (Joyce). Loving father of Bobbie (Roberta) (Don Whiteman) of Trenton; Bill (Sandy) of Cornwall, PEI; Patricia (David Coyle) of Trenton and Terry (Craig Watson) of Trenton. Grandad to seven children and the "Great Dadoo" to 11 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents William and Margret, sister Mary, and brother Daniel.
Born in Bridgend, Chryston, Scotland in 1921. He came to Canada at the age of four. He served in World War II with the RCAF as a Radio Navigator and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He continued his career in the Canadian Military, serving in many locations across Canada, including Summerside in the 1950's. He retired in Trenton, Ontario in 1970.
Jim enjoyed many years curling and golfing in the area and he especially enjoyed working with horses, as an inspector, at the Belleville Race Track. Jim was a great family man who enjoyed life. He will be missed by all of us.
