
Wilfred MacLeod
We regret to announce the passing of Wilfred MacLeod, 87, on Friday, November 23, 2012, in Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil's Harbour, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on Cape Smokey on March 19, 1925, he was the son of the late John and Christine MacLeod.
Wilfred served his country overseas in the Second World War serving in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He also worked for the Dept. of Transportation for many years, before starting his own business. He was the last surviving member of his family.
He leaves behind to mourn his loving wife Thelma (Rideout) MacLeod; daughter Dale, Ont. and granddaughter Heather, Ont.; step-children Teddy (Sharon), Sydney, Yvonne (Graham), Neil's Harbour, Jeffery (Brenda), Alberta and Conrad (Nancy), Alberta; step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Donald, Norman, Jack, Walter, Joe and Murdock; and sisters Tena, Flo and Mary.
As per Wilfred's wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will take place on Monday, November 26, 2012, at 1 p.m. in St. John's Anglican Church, Ingonish, with with Rev. Warren Huestis officiating. A reception will follow the service. The burial will be in Ocean View Cemetery, North Shore.
Donations in Wilfred's memory may be made to the Palliative Care at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil's Harbour.
