DYCK, Isaac “Ike”, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Palliser Regional Care Centre, Swift Current, SK. Ike was born on October 26, 1925, at the family home 12 miles southwest of Swift Current, SK, to Peter W. and Anna Dyck. He took his schooling up to grade 8 at the Montford School, which was located one mile from their home. Ike worked as a farm laborer from age 17, and worked at the Neil Anderson farm 12 miles south of Swift Current for 11 years. For one winter, at the age of 18, he went to Edmonton, AB and worked at a meat packing plant. In April 1955, he started working as a mechanic for Shook’s Implements (John Deere). He had 5 different bosses in his 40 years as a John Deere mechanic. Ike married Anne Braun on January 2, 1955. They had 57 years together and had 5 children. They adopted two boys, Wes and Blaine, from the 12 Foster Children they had in their home at various times. Diana stayed on in the family as well. Ike was always there for the kids. He played street hockey and ball with the boys. He took interest in all their sports and accomplishments. After retirement, he enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, which he framed, and he had more time for gardening as well. Ike accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1966, and drew strength from the Lord in times of need. He was a member of the Alliance Church since 1968. He served as a Sunday School bus driver, usher and helped wherever needed, especially with the janitor work. He also enjoyed the 60 plus group. Ike is survived by his wife, Anne; 7 children, Clarence (Barb) Dyck, Swift Current, SK, Gladys (Stephen) Stade, Saskatoon, SK, Stella (Raymond) Lyste, Swift Current, SK, Stan Dyck, Swift Current, SK, Marvin (Susan) Dyck, Saskatoon, SK, Blaine (Margaret) Dyck, Swift Current, SK, Dianna (John) Klassen, Swift Current, SK; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; and by 3 brothers. He was predeceased by his father, Peter W. Dyck (March 1978); his mother, Anna Dyck (December 1988); an infant brother and sister; 3 brothers, Dave (August 2004), Bill (October 2004), John (December 2009); a sister, Susie (September 2007); an infant grandson (May 1979); 3 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and by a son, Wes (February 2007). The Funeral Service was held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the Trailview Alliance Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Mike Smart officiating. The pianist for the service was Marilyn Ginther. “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”, “What a Friend We Have In Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art” were sung by the congregation under the direction of John Regier. The ushers in the church were Jim Ginther and Henry Hildebrandt. The Interment Service preceded the Funeral Service and was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Brian Neudorf, Harvey Klassen, Henry Hildebrandt, Dale Krahn, Dean Kern and John Kehler.
