Hazel Mae Roscoe - 88, of Fundy Villa, Berwick, formerly of Kentville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Saturday, December 1, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in East Noel, Hants County, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ella (Reid) Hamilton. She taught school for five years in Hants and Kings Counties and was later employed in the payroll departments with G.L. Doane and Company and Acadia University for a total of 16 years. She enjoyed crafts, travelling and photography. In later years, she received much enjoyment from making hand crafted photo cards of the local area. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be remembered for her sense of humour and warm spirit. She was a member of the Centreville Baptist Church, the Centreville Good Neighbour Club and the Kentville New Horizons. For many years she volunteered in community efforts and in 1996, received a volunteer award from the Town of Kentville. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Glen) Porter, New Minas; son, Garry (Sandra) Roscoe, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario; three grandchildren, Heather Porter, Wendi Roscoe and Trevor (Julie) Porter; four great grandchildren, Adam, Joshua, Curtis and MacKenzie; two brothers, Louis (Marion) and Oland and sister-in-law, Marina, all of Noel Shore; several nieces and nephews; many good friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Rae Roscoe; a half-sister, Olive Hennigar; two brothers, Laurence and Carl; sister-in-law, Madeline Hamilton. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request, The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Marc Potvin and Reverend Gerald Zinck officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital or the Centreville Baptist Church.
