
Daisy Verna MacKenzie
MacKenzie, Daisy Verna, May 31, 1917, December 3, 2012, Peacefully, at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, Daisy Verna MacKenzie went to be with her Lord Monday, December 3, 2012. Born in Truro, she spent 94 years of her life there until moving to Glen Haven Manor in 2011.After graduating from a secretarial course, she worked at A.J. Walker’s and then the N.S.A.C. until her retirement. As an adult, she took piano lessons and derived much enjoyment from playing her piano. While at Glen Haven she still had opportunity to play. She enjoyed singing in the Manor choir and attending various musical events until failing health kept her from participating. She attended The Good News Bible Chapel for many years and loved to pray for the needs of others. Verna was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by parents Aubrey and Minnie MacKenzie; sisters, Florence Garitano, Evelyn McGrattan, Jean Cook, Rosalie Patton, brother, Parker MacKenzie and their spouses. Surviving are several nieces and nephews and their families.Visitation will be held 1 – 2 pm Thursday, December 6, immediately followed by funeral service all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, with Mr. Albert Hull officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Interment to be held at a later date in the Crossroads Cemetery, Valley.
