TRENTON – Joyce Frances (Ryan) MacDonald, formerly of Cavell St., Trenton, passed away peacefully at her home in Glen Haven Manor on December 5, 2012.
Born on Feb. 29, 1928 in Trenton, she was the oldest daughter of the late Alexander George “Sandy” and Mary Agnes “Aggie” (MacKinnon) Ryan.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved the sound of a fiddle and reel of bag pipes; to cook and bake for family and sew a tablecloth for a friend. She attended school at St. John’s Academy. She was proud to serve her country during WWII as a Gun Shop Girl. She was a former employee of Zellers.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, sisters: Hectorina in infancy, Anne Riggs and Audrey Gladney; brothers: Donald, George “Dim”, Edward and Bernard “Bud”; son-in-law Robert Holland. Surviving are her sons: Wayne, Trenton, Ontario, and his children Ken and Michael; Bryan, Trenton; daughter Emily Anne MacEachern, Trenton, and her children Maggie and Keigan, their father Craig; step-daughters: Brenda Holland, North Carolina; Karen (Blair) Covey, Dartmouth, and their families; sisters: Shirley MacLaren, Trenton; Patricia “Patsy” (Bill) Hughes, Abercrombie; brother, Dennis (Marguerite) Ryan, Caribou; numerous nieces and nephews; special neighbours and friends: Stephanie, David, Max and Kennedy MacKinnon.
Visitation 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Friday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral mass 1:30 p.m. Friday in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Christ the King Cemetery.
