Frederick Johnson

JOHNSON, FREDERICK HAROLD - The death of Frederick Harold Johnson occurred on December 4th, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born March 10th, 1928, he was the son of the late Mikail and Laura (Smith) Johannson and husband of 58 years to the late Geraldine Johnson. Frederick graduated from UNB in 1949 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked with the Federal Hydrographic Service, Department of Highways, Province of New Brunswick and Public Works Canada. His public service tour took him to all the provinces and the Yukon Territory. Of particular importance, he was proud of his involvement with the Canso Causeway, Campbellton Bridge and the Trans Canada Highway. He is survived by his three children, Mike (Cheryl) Johnson (P. Eng) of the Yukon Territory and their children, Daniel Johnson (Jodi), Matthew Johnson (Adrien) and Lia Johnson; Dr. John Johnson (Daryl Elizabeth) of Saint John and their children, Drew, Taylor, Tristan, and Bryce; Deana Helton (Jeff) of Calgary and their children, Jessica and Andrew and two great grandchildren, Danica and Makena Johnson of the Yukon Territory. Both parents came from simple beginnings and worked hard to successfully raise their three children. Geraldine was a teacher, Fred an Engineer. They instilled in us the importance of education and hard work. The family would like to thank the staff and community of The Shannex and the staff of Ward 4NE, and Palliative Care Unit of Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2013 in Campbellton, New Brunswick for both Geraldine and Fred. For those who wish donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at www.mcadamsfh.com, (458-9170)
