Joan J. Demers (nee Webster), 72, of Avon, Ohio, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at her home of a lengthy illness. She was born July 2, 1935, in Charlottetown, P.E.I., Canada, and has lived in Avon for 36 years. She was the owner of French Creek Antiques in Avon, Ohio, and Little Dippers Ice Cream in Sheffield Lake. She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Avon, and enjoyed St. Mary’s Bingo. She was a member of the Ladies Knights, Englewood, FL., and a member of Edgewater Club in FL. She enjoyed collecting antiques, travelling, crocheting, boating, spending winters in Florida, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lionel A. Demers; children, Lionel S. (Yvonne), Mark L. (Meg), Donald J. (Susan), Scott A. (Laura), Dale R., David J. (Stephanie), Canda M. (Michael) Papa; grandchildren, Breanna, Ashley, Christina, Katie, Sarah, Lindsay, Cory, Patrick, Heather, Jason, Thomas, Ryan, Jena, Leesa, Nicholas, Calista, Michael Jr., and Jacob; three siblings: Nalda (Bruce) Wheeler, Donald (Barbara) Webster, Lena (Ray Campbell) Webster; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, F. Sterns and Margaret (nee Acorn) Webster; and one granddaughter, Haley Joan Papa. Funeral services were held in Ohio under the direction of Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon, Ohio 44011 (440/934-8000). Memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Foundation or St. Mary Church Building Fund, Avon, Ohio.
