We regret to announce the passing of Adrienne Patterson, 94, on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on April 3, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Cox) MacLellan. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Sydney Mines, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Adrienne was a retired school teacher, having taught for many years in the Northside District School Board, and retired as Principal of the Norman MacLeod School, Sydney Mines.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Fraser; son, Allan Fraser; brothers, Earle (Marjorie) MacLellan, Lorne (Irene) MacLellan; grandsons, Ken (Susan), Ross (Margie), Mark (Kathy), Craig (Anne Marie), Matthew and Andrew; granddaughters, Merle, Kim (Dale) and Ronda (Glenn); as well as the Patterson family, Maude, Mary Lou, Fraser and Tommy and their families and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Ross Fraser; second husband, Neil Patterson; daughters, Jean Ludlow, Mary Hamilton and Rosslin Fraser and brothers, Clyde, Gordon and Douglas MacLellan.
Ardienne’s family wish to thank Dr. Michel McKeough, Louise McKeough, and the nurses and staff of 5 East, Northside General; also caregivers, Rhoda and Bernadette. Special thanks also to Betty and Mary, who shared the last number of months with her.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Marion Barclay MacKay officiating. A reception will be held in the church hall, following the service. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
