George Frederick Cammie

Date de naissance : 28 février 1940

Date de décès : 6 décembre 2012

It is with great sadness that the family of George Frederick Cammie announce his sudden death as the result of a tragic accident. George passed away at the WMRH Palliative Care Unit surrounded by his children on December 6, 2012 at the age of 72. He was well loved and highly respected as a musician, singer, and master carpenter. His admiration and love for music has made an impact on the entertainment industry in Corner Brook and beyond. His passion for genealogy and family history led him to the discovery of his aboriginal heritage - he was a proud member of the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation Band in Corner Brook. George is predeceased by his parents Peter and Thelma Cammie and Edward and Sadie Colson; brothers Olie, Jack and Lloyd and sister, Dolly. Devastated by this loss are his children: Cathy (Darrell), Lou, Peter (Krista), Paul (Cindy) and their mother Ann White. He also leaves to mourn his grandchildren: Thea (Bryan), Olivia and Malacai; Vanessa (Justin) and Heather (Shamus); Dillon, Kaitlin, Mason and Hailey; Madison, Gracie and Chase; brothers and sisters: Frank (Vera), John (Jean), Mary (Ernest) and Joan (Ward). He leaves to mourn a large circle of friends and family too numerous to mention. Cremation has taken place with visitation to be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Sunday, December 9th, 2012 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Funeral Mass will take place from the Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral & Immaculate Conception, Mt. Bernard Avenue on Monday, December 10th, 2012 at 10:30 A.M., with Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. In lieu of flowers, family are requesting copies of photographs of George and his works, or written memories, so that a commemorative book can be created for his grandchildren. The family guest book may be signed or memorial donations may be made by visiting our website at www.country-haven.com.

We're left to say goodbye and
to mourn a man of love
God has placed his hand now,
to take him up above.
We lose our master builder,
our singer and our friend
This new beginning for him is
our sad and lonely end.
His family left to shed a tear
and remember with our love
God has placed his hand now,
to take him back above.
A legacy of wood and crafts and
music cheers our hearts
It's time to say goodbye now as
we mourn and he departs.
We listen to our souls and
we feel as we've bereft of
a man who God has placed his
hand and taken him above.

We love and miss you, Pop Cammie
