New Glasgow - Roy Clifford MacGregor, age 87, of Trenton Road, New Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Scotch Hill, he was the son of the late Ernest and Alice (Adamson) MacGregor. After 38 years of service, he retired from Maritime Tel and Tel as a District Supervisor. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow and the Telephone Pioneers. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and summers at the cottage at Black Point. He will be remembered for his patient and gentle manner. He is survived by daughters: Janet (Brian) Hiscott, New Glasgow; Susan (Chuck) Stallard, New Glasgow; grandchildren: Greg Hiscott; Kristen Stallard; sisters-in-law: Audrey (Raymond) MacQuarrie, New Glasgow; Betty Fraser, Amherst; a niece and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Melda E. (Fraser); sister and brother-in-law: Jean and Nugent Ferguson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Pearl and Eldred Baudoux; Lola and Roy MacKenzie; Douglas Fraser. Visitation 6-9 pm Saturday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 1 pm Sunday in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Church Brook Cemetery, Little Harbour. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, Pictou County VON or a charity of choice.
