SMITH, HUGH JOHN "JACK" - It is with great sadness, the family of Hugh John "Jack" Smith announce his passing on November 25, 2012 at his home in Pritchard, B.C. Born on December 1, 1947 in Woodstock, N.B., Jack was the son of the late John W. Smith and the late Helen J. (Grant) Smith. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Denise Ford, his devoted children Sean Smith (Selma), Angela Smith (Brian Corey), Dawn Marie Stewart (Ron), Kyle Smith (Carrie), Keeley Peterson (Brendan) and Clayton Smith, grandchildren Scott Stewart, Malcolm Smith and Beckham Smith. He is also survived by brothers Dean H. Smith (Carol), Ottawa, Gary C. Smith (Barbara), Bridgewater and his sisters Brenda Case (Hayward), Fredericton, Hilda Foster (Steve), Calgary, Emily Palmer (Tony), Sussex, Patsy Harten (Rick), Calgary, as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Hedley W. Smith in 2006. Jack’s strong work ethic and belief in God served him well in his long career as a stationary engineer in several Canadian provinces and the western United States. Growing up in Marne, a rural community outside Canterbury, N.B., Jack learned the love of fishing and hunting with his father and brothers. Throughout his life, he was drawn to the peacefulness of the New Brunswick countryside. A man of faith, Jack will be missed by his family and all those who knew him, leaving a trail of memories to be treasured.
