It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Stubbard, age 62, of Reserve Mines. Arthur passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Walter and Veronica (McNeil) Stubbard.
Arthur was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. He was a member of the Glace Bay Pensioners Club.
Arthur was an avid sports fan. In his earlier years he coached a Little League baseball team.
Arthur will be sadly missed by his children, Deanna, Krista, Jeff (Danielle) Stubbard, all of Reserve Mines; brothers, Raymond, Dominion, Simon ‘Duckie’ (Darlene), Reserve Mines, Patty Nolan and Johnny O’Brien, both of Glace Bay; sisters, Joan (Joe) Smith, Reserve, Theresa (Sheldon), Dominion, Agnes (Daniel) Gracie, Ont., Florence (Donald), Dominion, Jenny (Ernie) Christie, Ontario, Marg MacDougall, New Waterford. Also surviving are cherished grandchildren, Sadie, Jansyn, Spencer; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his brother, Peter; sisters, Mary and Thelma, nieces, Tanya, Wendy and nephew, Joe.
Visitation for Arthur will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church hall.
Donations in Arthur’s memory may be made the Canadian Cancer Society.
