Drake Ford-Burke
Date de naissance : 7 décembre 2011
Date de décès : 17 décembre 2012
It is with deepest sorrow and broken hearts that we, the family, announce that our little angel, Drake ‘Drakers’ William Ford-Burke, was granted his wings all too suddenly on Dec. 17, 2012, at Glace Bay Hospital.
Although cut much too short, each day of Drake's time here on earth was considered a major blessing to our family and he will forever be remembered for his big blue eyes, blonde hair and bubbly personality. His gentle smile and hearty laugh melted the hearts of all those around him and he was loved deeply by his family and friends. Drake was the type of child who was rarely seen without a smile on his face and he always made it known when he entered a room through his boisterous voice. He would spend hours just scooting around on his bottom, bouncing along to music, tackling his brothers and cuddling into his parents, brothers and grandparents.
Drake was survived by his parents, Michael and Sara (Ford) Burke of Glace Bay; older brothers, Tyson, Preston and Dominick; maternal grandparents, David and Sharon (O'Keefe) Ford of Glace Bay; paternal grandparents, Maurice and Maureen (Devison) Burke of Louisbourg; paternal great-grandparents, Helen Devison of Louisbourg and Sylvester and Susan Burke of Catalone; aunts, Erin (Chad) Hurley of Milton, Ont. and Tina (Damien) Lahey of Bateston; uncles, David, Paul and Anthony Ford of Glace Bay and cousins, Colby, Hope and Braeden along with many other family members.
To our baby boy, we love you and you will be in our hearts always.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 at St. Anthony Church in Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will take place at St. Anne's Cemetery, followed by a reception at St. Anthony Church basement.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made in Drake's memory to the Pediatrics Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or to the IWK in Halifax.
Online condolences to the family can be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
