STEEVES, MARY E. - Mary Eliza Steeves, 91, of Spencer Memorial Home, Moncton and formerly of Gladeside, with her loving son, Douglas at her side, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday evening, December 17, 2012. Born in Conquest, Saskatchewan, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Bertha (Thorne) Clow. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a former employee of the Saint John Industrial Boys Home, SOS Company (Chicago) and former Head Housekeeper for the Chicago Athletic Club for 29 years. Mary was the oldest living member of Dundas Baptist Church and also attended Stoney Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed horses, her dog “Charlie” and time with her family. Mary will be sadly missed by her son, Pastor Douglas Steeves (Kitty) of Gladeside; precious grandchildren, Ryan (Molly), Hollie Morse (Rev. Andrew), and Sarah Sutherland; cherished great grandchildren, Emily, Caleb, Naaman, Madison and Ryan James; also step grandchildren, Jamie, Lisa and Julie; and four step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Klara Steeves of Salisbury; several nieces and nephews. She was the widow of the last surviving grandchild of George and Betsy West. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Aubrey Steeves (West) (1995); son, Craig (2007); brother, Arnold Clow (1989).
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Friday December 21, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Chet MacPhail officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Bethania Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.
