THORNTON, BRIAN HAZEN - Brian H. Thornton of Temperance Vale, NB passed away peacefully on December 20, 2012 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, with his family by his side. Born at Waterville, York Co., NB in 1950, he was a son of Arnold D. Thornton and the late Joyce (Christie) Thornton. Brian was employed for several years at the pulpmill in Nackawic, NB. He enjoyed hunting and being in the woods. Brian loved old cars and fixing them up. He enjoyed being a tease, especially with his nieces and nephews. Brian is survived by his wife, Mary (MacFarlane) Thornton; a daughter, Mary Jane Palmer (Dave), Fredericton, NB; his father, Arnold Thornton, Waterville, NB; a sister, Judy Thornton, Waterville, NB; a brother, David Thornton (Lynn), Mazerolle Settlement, NB; his mother-in-law, Alice MacFarlane, Fredericton, NB; Mary’s siblings, George MacFarlane (Sally), Jeannie Ahrens (Stan), Jimmy MacFarlane (Bernice), Barbie Bailey (Charlie), Judy Richardson (George), Sue MacFarlane, Rick MacFarlane and Tina Kelly (Terry); several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his mother, Brian was predeceased by a brother, Donald; his father-in-law, Harold MacFarlane and a niece, Jennifer MacFarlane.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Hal Babcock officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Interment will then follow at Temperance Vale Cemetery.
