SMITH, JAMES "JIM" H. - It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of James "Jim" H. Smith, age 71, of Oromocto, NB, formerly of Springhill, NS. Jim passed away at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Monday, December 24, 2012. Born in Springhill, NS, he was a son of the late John A. and Agnes (Calder) Smith. Jim joined the RCAF in 1962 and retired in 1996 as Chief Warrant Officer. During his service, he served at Golan Heights in 1985. Following the service he worked as Commissionaire at CFB Gagetown. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Margaret, Oromocto; sons, Robert, Oromocto and Richard, Winnipeg; daughter, Lucy (Ralph) MacRae, Miramichi and Charlene Rogers, Springhill; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Janet MacLean, Marla Cameron, John Spence, Trevor and Tammy Smith. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by sister, Beverly Cameron; and brother, Lorne.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A H Brown Funeral Service Ltd., 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visitation will take place on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Rodney Cemetery.
