Terrance Dennis (Terry) O'Reilly
February 9, 1945 - January 4, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Terry O’Reilly announce his death on Friday the 4th of January, 2013, after a brief illness. Terry was a source of inspiration and determination to everyone around him. His strength and positive attitude during his illness was remarkable - not many people pass into the unknown with such an attitude of love and acceptance. Terry is survived by his loving wife, Mary (nee Hogan); son Michael (Sandra) and his precious and deeply loved granddaughters: Grace and Emily O’Reilly. Those girls are Terry’s most treasured legacy. Also left to mourn are Terry’s siblings: Rosemary O’Reilly, Betty O’Reilly and Mike O’Reilly (Leanne) of Corner Brook and Margaret Howe of Parksville, BC; father-in-law, Benedict Hogan of Carbonear and a very extended Hogan family; aunts and uncles, cousin, nephews and nieces, great-nephews and nieces and cherished friends. Remains are resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Funeral will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Sunday January 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. No flowers by request. An expression of sympathy/ donation may be made to Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation in Terry’s memory. Special thanks to all those many friends who visited Terry so often during the past weeks. Terry relished each and every visit. Heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, respiratory personnel and hospital staff who were so devoted and kind to Terry. “I said the man who stood at the Gate of the Year - “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown” and he replied “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God - that shall be better than a light and safer than the known way - So I went forth and finding the hand of God, Trod gladly into the night.”
