Wallace, William "Bill" of Swift Current, Sask. passed away Saturday Dec 29, 2012 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce (Anderson) Wallace; his daughter Elaine, grandchildren Brendon, Kira (Derek), Taylor (Sarah) and great grandchildren Bonder and Tinka; his son Darrell (Colleen) and their children Derek (Andrea), their sons Paxton and Jett and Jay (Sara) and their daughter, Brielle. He is also survived by his brother Robert "Bus" and his sisters Margaret (Rutherford Smith) and Ellen (Ron Smith) and his sister-in-law Florence Anderson (Ralph). He was predeceased by his brother Jim (Mildred); and sisters Mary and Annie (Bob Ball) and his Brother-in-law Ralph Anderson. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews who fondly remember him as a great Uncle. Bill was born Sept 25, 1925 at the farm home in Rush Lake, Sask. where he took his schooling. He was always active in Boy Scouts, hockey, ball and Community Club activities. He took over the Family Farm in 1946 along with his brother, Bus after the death of their father. In October of 1951 he married Joyce Anderson and they created a wonderful home on the farm until the farm was sold in 1977. Together they moved into Swift Current where he began employment with Agriculture Canada at the Research Station as a Machine Maintenance Mechanic during which time he acquired his Boilers Certificate. He was always active in community work as an elder of the Rush Lake United Church, and later attended the Swift Current United Church, Sec/Treas of the Rush Lake Civic Center, a leader of the 4-H Club, a Director of the Pioneer Credit Union and a Director of the SC Agriculture and Exhibition Association for which he received an Honorary Life Membership. A Building was named in his memory at Doc's Town in honor of his many years of service. Bill also was involved with the Special Olympics in Swift Current for many years. Bill was known to all as the consummate Gentleman, proper, tall and handsome and well dressed. He was disciplined in all areas of life including his daily walks or bike rides. In all he endeavored he held himself to the highest standard and that was evident in his surroundings and everything he put his hand to. He was honest and honorable, kind and gentle and without any hesitation we can say he deserved all of our respect. He was proud of his family and made us all want to be better because of the high standard he held up for us. He will be missed but we will see him again in Heaven. His celebration of life was held at Eastside Church on January 4, 2013. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
