REEVES: Maxine Edna Reeves, age 77 of Swift Current, SK passed away December 13, 2012 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, in British Columbia. The Celebration of Maxine's life was held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. from the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Swift Current, SK with Captain Michael Ramsay of the Salvation Army officiating. The pianist for the service was Susan Ramsay. The interment of her cremated remains took place in Mount Pleasant Burial Park. The honorary pallbearers were members of the The Royal Canadian Legion and the Salvation Army. Maxine is survived by her children: Edward Reeves, South Korea; Bryana-Christine (Bryan) Sehn, Medicine Hat, AB; Brenda (Ron) Messenger, Redcliff, AB; Jim (Sandy) Reeves, Swift Current, SK. Grandchildren: Michael (Jamie) Reeves, Medicine Hat, AB, Candace (Don) Kovalsky, Medicine Hat, AB, Jennifer (Chad) Messenger, Medicine Hat, AB, Martina (Daniel) Messenger, Medicine Hat, AB, Rhonda (Elliot) Messenger, Medicine Hat, AB. Great Grandchildren: Aston Messenger, T'Keyah Messenger, Chandler Messenger, Douglas Messenger, Corrine Messenger, Sky Pearce, Trinity Reeves, Zoe Reeves, Sierra Kovalsky, Jewel Kovalsky Sisters: Donna Ramsay, Nanaimo, BC, Ruby (Pete) Wiebe, Swift Current, SK Teresa (Mark) Vander Viekkert, Grimshaw, AB and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents: Edward and Helen Carruthers (nee: Harder), Swift Current, SK; her husband John David Reeves; sisters: Lil Thomson and Shirley Head. Maxine was born at the Swift Current Union Hospital, September 12, 1935. She attended the Elmwood and Central Public School and the Swift Current Collegiate Institute. Maxine married John David Reeves January 27, 1954. She was employed at the Salvation Army Thrift Store for 14 yrs, and was active in the Salvation Army activities. Maxine was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was a Flag Bearer at many Legion Parades. She enjoyed gardening, baking, serving as a volunteer and travelling. Maxine loved to spend time with family she was a women with a big heart. In her memory, memorial donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.
