DesROCHE, FREDERICK JOSEPH - Frederick Joseph DesRoche husband of Alice Louise DesRoche passed away at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on Monday, January 7, 2013. Born in Melrose, NB on January 23, 1922 but moved to Saint John where he lived his whole life. At the start of WWII he joined the NB Rangers and served overseas in France, Holland and Germany as a Gunner. After the war he began working for the National Harbour Board Police from where he retired after 35 years. He loved to fish, hunt and garden and tinker in his shop, usually as a carpenter, but he was a jack of all trades. Frederick also very much enjoyed his cottage at Public Landing. He is survived by his wife, Alice; daughters, Jean (James) Harper and Linda (Richard) King; sons, Peter (Susan) DesRoche and Tom (Millie) DesRoche and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frederick was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his sister, Lena Welsh and Bertha DesRoche.
Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd, (634-7425) with visiting on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:00 am from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
