It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our brother, uncle and friend Thomas ‘Timmie’ Russell Nicholson, at the Glace Bay Hospital on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013. He was a resident of Seaview Manor.
Timmie passed away peacefully, with his loving family at his side.
Born in Reserve Mines, he was the son of the late James and Anna (Matthews) Nicholson. Timmie was a man of strong faith and was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church in Reserve Mines.
Timmie worked for many years at the Glace Bay Community Hospital in the housekeeping department. He was a familiar face in Reserve Mines, spending most of his healthy retirement years caring for horses at the local stable, volunteering at St. Joseph's Church and never missing a day socializing at the local Tim Hortons. Timmie had a very special place in his heart for animals especially horses. He was a gentle man, who was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Timmie will be sadly missed by his loving family; brothers, Eric (Nina), Glace Bay, Rannie, Connecticut, Donnie (Cindy) Abbotsford, B.C., Butchie, Dominion; sisters, Georgina (Harold) Young, New Minas, Lynn (Albert) Strang, Lower Sackville; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Besides his parents, Timmie was also predeceased by brothers Kenny, Joey and sister Marjorie Conrad.
Visitation will be on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday in St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's parish cemetery.
