
Adelbert McAllister
McALLISTER, ADELBERT DOUGLAS - 1923 - 2013 - Adelbert “Delbert” D. McAllister passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Northumberland Veteran’s Unit in Pictou, NS on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the age of 89 years. Born in Chipman, he was the eldest son of the late James and Ethel (Hassan) McAllister. Delbert served in World War II from 1943-1946, he participated in liberating Holland, fought in Germany and then was stationed in Aldershot, England until the troops were sent home on March 6, 1946. He returned to his duties at the Canadian National Railway after his service in the war and retired as Regional Road Master after 40 years of service. Delbert was a member of the Moncton Legion Branch #6 and also a member of the #20 Masonic Lodge in Salisbury, NB. Delbert was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. Delbert will be sadly missed by his wife, Margaret (Eckert) McAllister; daughters, Nancy (Johnston) Barylski (Sandy) and Sharon McAllister, both of Winnipeg; son, Grant McAllister of Ontario; step-daughters, Dawn Eckert and Dale Eckert, both of Pictou, NS, and Debbie Cannell (Rev. Michael Cannell) of South Ohio, NS; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Pamela Pimlott (Allison) and sister-in-law Zelda McAllister; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Adrian, Ronald and James McAllister and grandson, Nathaniel.
Visitation will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton (858-1995) on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Moncton Legion Branch # 6 Memorial Service at 3:45 pm at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 am, with Rev.
