HAGERMAN, NEIL JOSEPH - Neil J. Hagerman of Bear Island, NB passed away January 18, 2013 at Scott’s Special Care Home, Upper Woodstock, NB. Neil was born at Bear Island in 1937, a son of the late Ward D. and Edith (Collicott) Hagerman. Neil spent quality time fishing and snowmobiling with his special nephew, prior to Ward’s spinal stroke in 1983. Neil drove scooters and motorbikes to and from work, and was often stopped for minor infractions, like registrations just a few years out of date. Before his illness he was employed for twenty five years with Goodine’s Farms in Bear Island. He had been a resident of the special care home for the past fifteen years and remained staunch and courageous to the end in his long battle with multiple cancers. Neil is survived by his brothers, Harry Hagerman (Barbara), Springfield, NB, Donald F. Hagerman and Stanley Hagerman, both of Bear Island, NB; nieces, Jane Boudreau (Ron), Sharon Kruger, Heather Stairs (Curtis) and nephews, Donald Hagerman and Ward Hagerman. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Doris Hagerman and three brothers, Cecil, Myles and Ernest Hagerman.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Clark officiating. Interment will be later at Bear Island Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Goodine, Edward Goodine, Ron Boudreau and Curtis Stairs. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Neil, the family has suggested the Bear Island Cemetery or the Canadian Cancer Society.
