
Marlene (Chicken) Weatherbie-Goodine
Word has been received of the death of Marlene (Chicken) Weatherbie-Goodine of Marysville, N.B., who passed away December 28, 2012.
Born on September 16, 1939, in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Chicken was an accomplished undefeated champion step dancer who traveled with TV’s Don Messer’s Jubilee and ran her own school of dance. She touched the lives of many.
Beloved wife of Leroy Goodine. Survived by loving sons, Troy (Sylvie) and Sandy (Stacy) and four adored grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew, Shannon and Justin. Also survived by sister, Shirley Reid; brother, Blaine Weatherbie; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth, Marguerite and Norberta Weatherbie; brother-in-law, Jim Kennedy; and numerous devoted nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She will be remembered with love and will be missed by all.
Predeceased by her parents, William and Priscilla (nee Dowling) Weatherbie; sisters, Lorraine Flanagan, Theresa (Duda) McQuaid, Leona (Bunnie) Kennedy; brothers, William Jr., George and Ralph Weatherbie; brothers-in-law, Jack Flanagan and Austin McQuaid; sister-in-law, Marilyn (McGee) Weatherbie.
Largely attended funeral mass was held January 2, 2013, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Church Fredericton N.B. Celebrant was Father Aaron Knox. A selection of favourite guitar music was rendered by her son, Troy. Granddaughter, Ashley, sang Ave Maria and O Danny Boy. Exceptional eulogy was delivered by her goddaughter and niece, Shirlene (McQuaid) MacKay. Interment at a later date at Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery, Fredericton, N.B.
