MacLAREN, AILEEN H. – Aileen Haddow MacLaren of Rothesay, wife of the late Dr. John A. MacLaren, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2013 at her residence. Born in Saint John on March 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late W. Grant and Elizabeth B. (Haddow) Smith. After her husband’s death in 1970, Aileen returned to the Saint John area. Aileen’s passion for life was shared with many through her love of the arts, travel, and entertaining. Her gracious and loving spirit will live on in the memories of all those who loved her. Aileen is survived by cousin Sheila Blythe, her children Stuart and Graham and their families of England, Peter and Bobbie Emerson of Rothesay, Tobi and Mike McNamee (Samuel and Grace) of Saint John, Mitchell and Tracey Emerson (Alex) of Rothesay, David and Ann Emerson and their family of Saint John. Aileen was blessed to have as compassionate caregivers Beth Waddell, Huguette Rector, Marilyn Logan, Lisa Hayward, Hazel Clarke, Molly Tufts, and Deb McCready.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Aileen’s life, which will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Shadow Lawn Inn, 3180 Rothesay Road, Rothesay. Interment will take place privately in Fernhill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
