Phyllis Canning

CANNING, PHILLIS OLIVIA (FILLMORE) - 1931 - 2013 - Phillis Canning of Amherst, and formerly of Sackville passed away peacefully Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS. Born in Fairfield, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Freaney) Fillmore. Phillis was very much a homemaker, loving her dogs, cats, and music. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren spending as much time as possible with them. She is survived by her husband Doug and will be dearly missed by her children Brenda (Jody) Mitton, Dieppe, Bruce (Gab), Dieppe, Darlyne (Rick) Moss, Shemogue, Kathy (Rick Allison) Pellerin, Moncton. She is also survived by grandsons Steven, Kenneth, Justin and Garett; granddaughters Heidi, Kate and Meghan as well as many nieces and nephews. As well as her extended family at the Prince Arthur Boarding Home. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Her funeral service will be held from Amherst Weslyan Church, 50 Cornwall Ave. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 1 pm, Pastor Rev. Raymond R. Fancy officiating. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the SPCA, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff, especially Geoff, of the Medical Inpatient "A" Wing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
