Theresa May Sheppard
"Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality." It is with deep sadness that the family of Theresa May announces her passing after a valiant battle with cancer on January 20th, 2013 at the Dr. L. A. Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit in St. John's, Newfoundland, bathed in the love of all of her family. Beloved wife of Edward Sheppard for over 50 years. Dearly loved by her children Lyrinda (Matthew) of London, ON, Timothy and Yolanda, both of St. John’s, NL. Cherished and devoted grandmother of Samantha, Cecilia, Aaron, Elissa and Emily. Predeceased by her parents William and Blanche Brumsey, and her sisters: Pearl and Dorothy, Theresa’s steadfast love was both motherly and sisterly for her fourteen dear sisters and brothers who live throughout North America. The circle of her precious family includes her sisters and brothers-in-law, and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins most of whom called her by the name SisterMae. Her heart was as big as the sky and there was a special place in it for each of her loved ones. Death has no power to diminish her love or ours. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Assumption Parish Church in Stephenville Crossing at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 25th, 2013 followed by a private family burial ceremony at the R.C. Cemetery in Stephenville Crossing. Family and friends are invited to a gathering reception to celebrate her life at the Annex of Assumption Parish Church at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 25th. Donations to www.healthcarefoundation.ca in recognition of the wonderful care Theresa received there to ease her last days or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully welcomed. Condolences can be left online via The Western Star obituary. Sing, dance and be joyful Theresa for we will all be reunited again in heaven.
