Robert Patrick Aucoin - 81, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2013 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Robert was born on May 6, 1931 in Cheticamp, to the late Harold and Mary-Helen (LeFort) Aucoin. He was a loving father, brother, husband and friend. Robert is survived by children, Barry (Eleanor) Aucoin of Centreville; Wendy (Normand) Doucet of Lower Onslow; Jocelyn (Hugh McGoldrick) Aucoin of Canning; Lorelee (Kendall) Keddy of Edmonton, AB and Keith (Gail) Aucoin of Kentville. Robert was a treasured grandfather to Rachel Aucoin, Andrew (Jemita) Aucoin, Lael Aucoin, Ryan (Meagan) Doucet, Sara Robinson, and Caleb Keddy and to Ethan, Isaac, Alexander, Owen and Abigail Aucoin. Robert is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Addison and Claire and siblings, Gerald (Helen) of Dartmouth; Gordon (Norah) of Surrey, BC; Bernice (Tom) MacDonald of Cape Breton; Marie Campbell of Moncton, NB as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his first wife, Mabel (LeRoux); a brother-in-law, Bob Campbell. He was also predeceased by wife, Esther Beckwith and is survived by her children and grandchildren. Robert was a dedicated worker and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was employed as a chartered accountant and previously owned and operated Blueberry Acres. He worked closely with the late Dr. Don Craig in plant propagation at Sheffield Nurseries. In addition to his family, Robert’s passions included his love of lobster fishing, traveling, cooking and was well known for always having lots of his favourite Werther’s Original candies on hand to share. The family would like to thank staff on the second floor of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, for the exceptional care. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. As per Robert’s wish, there was no visitation or funeral service. Donations in his memory may be made to the IWK Health Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
