DAHL - Lyla Pearl age 85 of Swift Current, SK passed away January 21, 2013 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Lyla was the last surviving sibling of the Helge and Jonetta Dahl family. Left to mourn are sister-in-law, Marilyn Dahl; nephews and nieces: Ingvald Dokken, Glenn (Sharon) Dokken, Douglas (Marleen) Dahl, Marvin (Brenda) Dahl, Harvey (Marlene) Dahl, Richard Dahl, Mary (Wayne) Bennett, Shirley Smith, Neil (Mona) Dahl, Dennis (Kathy) Dahl, Marshall (Nancy Campbell), Howard (Catherine) Dahl, Valerie Dahl (Anthony Traboulsee); niece-in-law, Nancy Dahl; many great nephews and nieces and the latest generation of great-great nieces and nephews. Lyla was loved by all and had pictures displayed of each and every one. She was predeceased by her parents Helge and Jonetta Dahl; brothers: Alvin, James, Ole, Norman, Sven and Lloyd; sisters, Bertha in infancy, Helen Dokken and Alma; sister-in-law, May Dahl and brother-in-law, Lewis Dokken; nephew, Jerry Dahl. Lyla was born on February 13, 1927 along with twin brother, Lloyd, on the farm north of Scotia School in the Fosterton District, SK. Lyla found employment in a variety of jobs. In 1954 she started work as a Dietary Aide at the Swift Current Union Hospital and the hospital gained a faithful and capable employee as she made that her life-long career. Whether on a tour of Europe or having coffee at the Pick-a-Deli people were Lyla’s utmost interest and concern. She was a faithful member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and her ELW Circle. Blessed be her memory! The Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on January 26, 2013 from St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The interment service will be held at a later date at St. John’s Cemetery, Fosterton District, SK. The Ushers were members of the Hope ELW Circle. Organist Arlie Neufeld accompanied soloist Joyce Olesen. Memorial donations may be made to St. Olaf Lutheran Church General Fund.
