HARRIS, Eileen Rose “Leenie” – Upper Brookside. It is with great sadness the family of Eileen R. Harris announces her passing on Monday, January 18, 2010, at the age of 92. Born December 17, 1917, in Onslow Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie (McLean) Delaney. Upon the death of her husband, Gordon (1951), she managed the family farm until 1965 and along with all the other duties, she raised prize winning cattle. Eileen was a member of Valley United Church where she was also active with the UCW. She enjoyed bowling and traveling and loved spending time at her cottage in Brule that she and her father built and she continued to maintain. She will be missed by her loving feline companion, Maggie. Eileen is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Dave) Johnson, Brookside; Kathleen “Kathy” (Dave) Scott, New Glasgow. Leenie will be missed by her six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, niece and nephew. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; one daughter in infancy; brother, Murray Delaney. By request, there will be a private family interment in Crossroads Cemetery in the spring. If so desired, donations in Eileen’s memory to Crossroads Cemetery are welcomed.
