James Clarence MacKinnon of Glace Bay, passed away at the Glace Bay Hospital on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Wilfrid and Neila (Morrison) MacKinnon.
James was employed for 43 years as manager of Sears in Glace Bay.
He is survived by wife, Connie; daughters, Lori (David), Lisa (Mark), Erin (Merril); six grandchildren, Mark, Rebekah, Connor, Bhreagh, Liam and Brennah; three sisters, Lavina Musgrave, North Sydney, Zita (Gordon) Graham, Sydney, and Neila MacKinnon, Glace Bay; brother, Rick (Janet) MacKinnon, Sydney.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Wilfrid.
In honouring James’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. A reception will follow in the church foyer. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in James’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Centre.
