It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kay Dickson, 62, of Sydney River. Kay passed away very peacefully Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, surrounded by her family.
Born in Sydney, Feb. 25, 1947, she was the daughter of Mrs. Sarah (MacDonald) McPhee and the late Billie McPhee.
Kay is survived by her devoted husband, Paul; and three children, Terrance (Christine), Alberta, Tracey (Stephen Hasiuk), Sydney, and Tanya (Brent Sheppard), Halifax. Kay is also survived by her mother, Sarah McPhee and her siblings, Donnie (Linda), Ann MacDonald, Hughena MacIntyre, Lincoln (Carol), Wilma Pyke, (Tom), Raymond (Janet); and many nieces and nephews.
Kay loved life and she loved being Nana to six wonderful grandchildren. Nana will live on forever in the hearts of Macey, Jeremy, Ty, Ryan, Nicolas and Gracie. She loved taking care of her family and she especially loved the holidays, taking great strides to make sure everyone had a great Christmas.
Kay will also be missed by her mother-in-law, Mary Dickson, sisters-in-law, Anna Marie MacPhee, Denise (Gordon) MacKinnon and Joslynn (Layne) White, and her brothers-in-law, Everett Dickson and Ernie (Mabel) Dickson.
Kay was predeceased by a son, Michael in infancy, her father, Billie McPhee, brother-in-law, Angus MacDonald and father-in-law, Ernest ‘Barney’ Dickson.
Visitation will take place Thursday, Jan. 21 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima, Sydney River. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Reception to take place at the East Bay Legion, Howie Centre.
