Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Palliative Care Unit of the Leonard A. Miller Centre on Monday, January 18, 2010, 87 years young. Predeceased by her husband Mark and daughter Christine. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons: Karl (Elizabeth Bassler), Boston and Don (Fran), Nova Scotia; daughters: Barbara McCutcheon (David), Gebraltor, Elizabeth Hammond-Fox, St. John’s and Sylvia Payne (Neil), Thorburn Lake, N.L.; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; son-in-law Brian Purcell, St. John’s; special sister Nellie Churchill, Portugal Cove; brothers: George Allen (June), Portugal Cove and John Allen (Betty), Toronto; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends especially her friends at Kelly’s Brook Apartments. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care Unit for the care and support shown to our Mom and to her family during her stay. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11 a.m. from St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Logy Bay Road. Interment to follow in St. Lawrence Anglican Cemetery, Bauline Line. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark’s Anglican Church, St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove or to the Leonard A. Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit.
