Bernard ‘Whip’ Whalen, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 18, 2010, in his 73rd year.
Dearly loved husband of Anita (nee Roy) (48 years). Loving father of daughter, Brenda Herriot (Dave). Bernie will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Alexander Borsos, Breanna and Matthew Herriot.
Bernie served in the Canadian Forces (artillery) for 30 years, much of that time in Europe.
He leaves behind brothers, Joe Whalen (Theresa), Reg Whalen, Ron Whalen and sister, Mary Anthis (George), all residing in Nova Scotia.
He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. At Bernie’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. Basil’s Church, 50 Palace St., Brantford, Saturday Jan. 23 at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, 699 Concession St., Hamilton, Ont., L8V 5C2.
