
Joyce Gillespie
GILLESPIE, JOYCE - Joyce (MacLeod) Gillespie of Waterford, NB, passed away January 28, 2013 at Bobby's Hospice in Saint John after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Survived by her sister Margaret (Ronald) Henderson and Margaret's children: Carol (Corky ie.David) Craig, Ken (Susan) Henderson, Donna (Danny) Adams, special nephew Ron (Claire) Buck, grandnieces and grand nephews as well as several great grandnieces and great grandnephews and one great great grandniece. Predeceased by her husband Gordon, her parents: Ken and Debbie (Targett) MacLeod, brother in law Ronald Henderson, special friend Doug Shannon, grandniece Angela Adams and grandnephew Danny Adams Jr. Joyce was very active in her community. She was a member of the Anglican Church Women, a Charter member of the Waterford Gems Women’s Orange Lodge LOBA #1407, a life member of the Rockville Women’s Institute where she served as Treasurer, Secretary and President, a cub leader with the Waterford Pack where under Joyce’s direction, they enjoyed hiking, camping, rowing and earning their badges. She was a natural leader and inspired those who knew her. Joyce worked hard all her life. She worked for several decades on the farm in Rockville and then for almost twenty years as a typesetter for the Kings County Record. Although Joyce bore no children of her own, she was a mother to many, especially her nieces, nephews and their children. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice for the kindness and support shown to them during this difficult time.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8pm. The Waterford Women's Orange Lodge LOBA #1407 will hold a tribute on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 5:45pm. A service celebrating Joyce’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 am. The interment will take place at Keirsteadville Cemetery at a later date.
