Surrounded by his loving family, of whom he was so very proud, Robert McSweeney’s wish was granted and he left this earth to go on his heavenly journey. Robert McSweeney, age 81, Summerside, long-time resident of Emerald, predeceased by his loving wife, Rosemary (Cash) McSweeney. Born on Aug. 29, 1931, in Tullow County Carlow, Ireland. Robert was the son of the late Thomas McSweeney and the late Alice (Holden) McSweeney. Left to mourn are his children, Teresa (Dan) Dawson of Summerside, Patrick (Catherine) McSweeney of Kinkora, Ann (Pat) Ross of Summerside, Melinda (Glen) Murray of Stratford, Kenny (Dianne) McSweeney of Roseneath, and by his 15 grandchildren, Robert, Kirk and Chad Dawson, Kendra Paynter, Thomas and Maggie McSweeney, Darcy, Corey and Tony Ross, Steven, Katie and Ian Murray, Kyle, Bobby and Jacob McSweeney and 5 great-grandchildren, Lila and Levi Dawson, Brayden Paynter, Carter and Connor Dawson. Also survived by his brother Tommy (Mary) McSweeney of Coventry, England, his special niece Lorna LeBlanc, and nephew, Clive Cobbett, sisters-in-law Nellie McSweeney, Doris Moynagh, Theresa (Abby) Smith, Catherine Croken, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat, Jackie, Gracie, Eileen (Ken) Cobbett, Lettie, Olive, Rev. John Cash, Hilary Moynagh, Elaine Rumble. Visiting hours at Kinkora Community Centre (across the road from church), on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. James Parish Cemetery Fund. Funeral on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Parish, Summerfield. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora.
