The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his wife and daughter at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, of James Edward Doherty of Summerside, aged 64 years. Jimmy was born on Feb. 1, 1948, in Clinton, Ont., to his late parents, Edward H. Doherty, RCAF, Fl. Sgt./W.O. and his mother Marion (nee Manderson) Doherty, R.N. Beloved husband of Rachel (nee Vienneau) Doherty and loving father of Sabrina Doherty of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his 3 grandchildren Megan, Taylor and Timothy, his aunt Lily Compton of Summerside and 38 nieces and nephews. Survived by his brothers Dave (Kelly) of Barrie, Ont., and Jack (Lucy) of Borden, and the following brothers and sisters-in-law: Aline Boulay, Jean (Wilfred) Arsenault, Lorraine (Arsene) Depres, Rheal (Barb) Vienneau, Donald Vienneau, Cecil (Jack) Haley, Hector (Sheila) Vienneau and Chuck Mallais. Besides his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his brother-in-law Hector Vienneau and sisters-in-law Yolande Plourde and Anne Mallais. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, where a private memorial service will take place. Interment to take place at a later date. Memorial donations in Jimmy’s memory to the Prince County Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated. By personal request, there will be no visiting hours held.
