It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jack, after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born in Glace Bay, son of the late James and Mary Nicholson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorie; his four children, Darlene (Clarie), Darrell (Debbie), Cindy (Chris) and Jack; predeceased by his daughter, Cathy; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Ambrose and Gussie; sisters, Kate and Hazel; many nieces and nephews.
His love was anything to do with Cape Breton Island. He enjoyed fishing on the wharf, out Mira, singing songs and telling stories.
Dad worked for Devco and retired in 1992.
He is predeceased by his brothers, Kenny, Joe, Nick, Collie and sister, Diddy.
Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. in St. Leo’s Church, Glace Bay. The Rev. Leo Boone will be officiating.
