STEEVES, LOTAN S. - Lotan S. Steeves, 85, of Petitcodiac, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Born in Bridgedale, he was the son of the late Noel and Vera (Downing) Steeves. Lotan was a retired CNR Yard Master and was a member of the Lower Coverdale Baptist Church. In past years, horses were a big part of his life. As a boy, and later with his sons, he showed horses at various shows and exhibitions. A founding member and Past President of the Greater Moncton Horse Club, he was involved with draft horse competitions at the Westmorland County Fair for over 25 years. He was an announcer at many equine shows and fairs every summer weekend for many years. Lotan will be sadly missed by his loving wife of over 60 years, Mina (Ritchie) Steeves; sons, Roger and Dana Steeves, both of Petitcodiac; sister, Doreen Power (Bill); brothers, Richard (Lorna), Winston (Phyllis) and Wayne (Tanya); several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Lelia Adair.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service.
