
Audrey Merritt
MERRITT, AUDREY ROBERTA - 1921 - 2013 - The family is sad to announce that Audrey Roberta Merritt passed away on January 30, 2013. She was born on September 3, 1921. Audrey was the wife of the late Carl Merritt. She was pre-deceased by her infant sister Linda Smith Lewis and son-in-law Alex Crawford. She is survived by daughters Linda and her husband Orman Hartling of Belleville, Ontario; Carol Ann Crawford of Grand Bay Westfield and Faye and her husband Chris Manser of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She has three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Locally, her granddaughter Roberta lives in Pocologan with her husband, Donald Lomax. Audrey was a member of the Carleton Kirk United Church. An active "Kirk" worker and member of the UCW. A former Nurse at the Saint John General Hospital, Audrey continued to volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 20 years. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. One of her favorite trips was a dog sled ride in Iqaluit, Nunavut. In addition to being a handy craft person, Audrey enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was an active member of the bridge club and also served as family historian for her extended family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB. By her and her family's request, there will be no visitation or service. Please send donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society, Meal on Wheels, Bobby's Hospice, and Palliative Care Unit SJRH.
