James David Murray aged 97 years of High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010, surrounded by his family in High Crest. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Alexander and Jane (Young) Murray.
He was a member of St. David's Presbyterian Church, Springhill, and Cumberland Lodge # 5, Knights of Pythias. His working years were spent in Coal Mining and at the Atlantic Provinces Resource Centre for the Hearing Handicapped, Amherst.
A family man, he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Heather (Eric) Trenholm, Springhill; brother, Kenneth (Grace), Dartmouth; sister, Alice Guy, Pugwash; two grandchildren, Melanie (Chris) Eldridge, Ottawa and Jamie (Nicole Canton) Trenholm, Amherst; a great grandson, Grayson.
He was predeceased by his wife the former Margaret Beryl Smith; daughter, Marilyn Elaine; brothers, Lloyd, John and Clyde; sister, Susie Light.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, (902 597 2361). Visitation will be held from 1 - 2 pm on Monday, January 25, 2010, followed immediately at 2:00 pm by a Memorial Service with The Reverend Elizabeth Davies officiating, both held from the Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Rodney Cemetery, Rodney, at a later date.
