Passed away peacefully Saturday, February 2, 2013, in Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by his wife, children and eldest grandchildren. Born in Campbell's Creek, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Hugh Joseph and Sarah (Hall) MacDonald. He was employed with Transport Canada until he retired in 1998 as Supervisor of Surface Structures at Stephenville International Airport. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Betty (Duffy) and his children Joe, Dartmouth, N.S.; Keith, Dartmouth, N.S.; Wayne (Tracey), Stephenville, N.L.; Laurie (Keith), Dartmouth, N.S.; Catriona (Garland), Dartmouth, N.S.; Dean (Kimberly), Alliston, O.N.; his grandchildren, Alexander, Anthony and Andrew; Nicholas, Michaela, Shawna and Grayson; Lindy, Kylie, Debbie and Mary; brother John (Litty) and sisters Margaret and Patricia and brother-in-law Max Brace. He was predeceased by brother Gerard, sisters Matilda (Whalen), Mary (Kontowsky), Isabel (Bruce), Veronica (Janucik) and Theresa (Brace). Visiting will be 6-9pm, Monday, February 4th at Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen Street, Dartmouth, N.S.(466-2360). Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, February 5 at 10:00 am, St. Clements Parish, 16 Gaston Road, Dartmouth, N.S.. Fr. Gilbert J. Bertrand, O.M.I. celebrant. Reception after funeral, downstairs in St. Clements church hall. Cremation to follow and burial will take place at a later date in Campbell's Creek cemetery. Donations may be made to the Janeway Children's Health Foundation in lieu of flowers, to honour his great love of children.
