
Rose Kelson
KELSON, ROSE MAY - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on February 4, 2013, Mrs. Rose May (Martin) Kelson, wife of Mr. Jackie F. Kelson of Utopia, NB. Born at Baie-Sainte-Anne NB on February 26, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Clement “Thomas” and Stella (Pellerin) Martin. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Jackie, she is survived by four children; John (Stephanie) Kelson of Pennfield, NB, Monica Kelson (Scott), Kevin Kelson and Michelle Kelson all of Utopia, NB, eight grandchildren; Curtis, Kirsten, Makala, Carter, Kyra, Rayna, Brenna and Wyatt, one great grandchild, Mya and chosen children of her heart, one brother, Clement (Emelie) Martin of Baie-Sainte-Anne NB, sisters; Clemence (Mike) Swartz of Pennsylvania, Adele (Yvon) Martin-Savoie of Baie-Sainte-Anne NB, Rose Marie (Donald) Gaudet of Pointe-Sapin, NB, Joanne (Bob) Young of Kansas City, MO, Dianne (Norman) LeBlanc and Ella Martin both of Moncton, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one son in infancy. Rose May was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed Bluegrass Music. She came to this area from Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB to work for the McLean Family in Blacks Harbour, NB. She met her loving husband Jackie in the early 1960’s and married. She then went to work for Connor’s Brothers until she became a stay at home mom for several years until she started her own business. She was a well known business woman who owned and operated a local Jean Shop and managed Apartments. Rose May enjoyed attending the Sunday Afternoon Jam Sessions at the Stella Maris Hall, Blacks Harbour and traveling to Florida. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
As keeping with Rose’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held from the St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, St. George, NB on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Father Rolando Suplido officiating, followed by a reception at the Stella Maris Hall, Blacks Harbour, NB. In Rose’s memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the NB Diabetes Assocation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB and especially the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB for their tender loving care.
