It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doris Mae Kiley of Bay Street, Sydney, on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at her residence.
Born on March 28, 1949, in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Absalom and Florence Slade.
Following high school graduation, Doris was employed at Chappell’s Building Supplies. In 1969, Doris embarked on a long career as an accounting clerk with the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, until retiring in 2006. She took great pride in her work and met many friends along the way. Doris will always be remembered for her great dedication to her family and her willingness to help others. Her happiest times were spent out on the Mira at the bungalow, where all family members would gather.
Surviving are her sons, Mark (Cathy) and Glenn; daughter, Michelle; four grandchildren, Kenneth, Coadie, Christian and Shanelle; and great-grandson, James. Also surviving are her siblings, Leslie (Bev), Joyce (Bruce), Sonny (Louise) and Gwen (Clair) and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Terrance.
According to her wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday 1 p.m., with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
