HARRIS, H. Evelyn, 97, Surf Lodge, formerly of Lower Ohio, Shelburne County, passed away peacefully in Roseway Hospital on Thursday, January 31, 2013 with family by her side. Born in Roseway, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Sarah (Goulden) Perry. Evelyn lived in Roseway until she married her husband, Mitchell, then moved to Shelburne and later settled in Lower Ohio. Evelyn was a member of the Lower Ohio Union Church and was an active member for the Ladies Aid and Red Cross. She won numerous ribbons for her baked goods at the Shelburne County Exhibition. In earlier years, Evelyn worked at the Loyalist Inn and her doughnuts were in great demand. She is survived by sons, Archer (Margaret), Clark (Monique); daughters, Marjorie (Bill) Brown, Shirley Hemeon, Win (Gerald) Greer; a brother, Nelson Perry; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Mitchell Harris; grandson, Thomas Harris; granddaughter, Kim Oakley; great grandchildren Allison Greer and Adrian Oakley; son-in-law, Gerald Hemeon; brothers, Foster, Fred, Albert, Dell and Harold; sisters, Rosie, Ellen, Myrtle, Mae and Hilda. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. A private graveside memorial service will take place at a later date.
