DesChamp, Oliver Prescott, Shelburne. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Oliver on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at home. Born in Shelburne on October 1, 1930, he was a son of the late Randall Sr. and Hazel (Saunders) DesChamp. Oliver was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 63 Shelburne. During the Korean War he was with the Pioneer Battalion Demolitions and served for three years and seven months. He worked with his father doing carpentry work around Town. He also worked for Bill DesChamp Sr. for 28 years doing anything from moving churches to making septic tanks. After he left the Service he returned to work for Bill DesChamp Sr. doing the same work as before. He also worked at DesChamp & Jackson Boat Building for 4 years and again did carpentry work around Town for another two years. He later worked as janitor at the Court House and then as a Correctional Officer for 11 and a half years until June 1, 1990 when the jail closed and he retired. Oliver enjoyed hunting and working in the yard. He is a member of the Anglican Church, Jordan Falls. He is survived by his wife, Jocelyn, Shelburne; son, Robert Lee, Thunder Bay, Ont.; grandsons, Christopher, Jakeb, Cole, all of Saskatchewan, John, Yarmouth; great-grandson, A.J; brother, Randall Jr. (Mary Jane), sister, Marion as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Myles and Maurice and sister Catherine. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held on Friday, February 15 at 3:00 p.m conducted by the Legion. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of choice. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery.
