Frances Eleanor Miller (Kent)
MILLER (Kent), Frances Eleanor – Passed away peacefully on February 13, 2013 at the age of 83 surrounded by family members and the caring staff of Oceanview Manor. She was predeceased by her husband, Keith Miller, and her son Stephen Kent Miller. Frances was born in the small mining town of Miami, AZ to Fred and Helen (Wentzell) Kent but moved to Nova Scotia as a young girl with the rest of the family. Our mother was a striking young woman and quickly caught the eye of the dashing and athletic Keith Miller. They were married in a small ceremony in Antigonish and then moved to Cape Breton to begin a family and run Keith’s new trucking business. As time went on, they moved the family back to Stewiacke where Frances spent 25 years working in the local RCMP detachment. Working may be an understatement as most of the members would say she ran it. Frances was artistic, intelligent, loved nature, had 4 green thumbs and was a seamstress extraordinaire. Our mother was generous and caring to everyone, a friend to many and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. It was nothing for her to pass out one of the many pairs of hand-knit mittens she made to complete strangers who just needed to warm their hands. She is survived by her sister Catherine (Kent) Dale, her brother Robert Kent; her children Cheryl (Marven) Hennigar, Kirk (Melinda) Miller, Sandy (Wendy) Miller and Todd (Monique) Miller; her grandchildren Joel Hennigar, Shannon Hennigar, Trish (McNutt) LeBlanc, Jerad Miller, Stefan Miller and Kennedy Miller; her great grandchildren Brady, Rachel, Lucas and Mya Leblanc and Daegan Hennigar. The family wishes to thank the tireless and caring staff of Oceanview Manor who cared for Frances in her later years. You have our undying gratitude. A celebration of her life and burial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oceanview Manor Society (www.ovccc.ca) or the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.ColchesterCommunity.com
