It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend Jack Feener on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Point Leamington, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Amos and Beulah Feener.
Jack was employed for many years with the City of Sydney. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing the accordion and harmonica.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jessie (MacKay) Feener; his children, Joanne (Lorne) Bonnar, Sydney, Melvin (Connie), Terrace, B.C., Leslie (Sharon), Sydney, Johnnie (Lynn), Fort McMurray, Alta., Barry (Marie), Sydney; daughters-in-law, Patsy and Cheryl, his 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Jack is also survived by his four stepchildren, Jean, Muriel, Hughie, Gordie and their families.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Elsie Goldine (Graham), his daughter, Trudy Waye.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ron Coole officiating. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
