Elsie Elizabeth King (nee Dwyer)

Passed away in the presence of her loved ones at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Friday, February 15, 2013, Elsie King Aged 89 years. Predeceased by her husband, Edgar “Granville” (1998); and brothers: Bill and Gerald Dwyer. Leaving to mourn, her twin daughters Grace and Yvonne King (Gerald Burrell); grandchildren: Heather (Leonard Boucher)(Nova Scotia), Cheryl (Colin Pilipchuk) (Alberta)(Alberta), Jason Burrell (Nova Scotia) and Cassandra Burrell (New Brunswick); 2 great-grandchildren: Evangelina and Tristan Boucher (Nova Scotia); sister, Rita Baker; sister-in-law, Edna Dwyer (British Columbia); as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, close friends, and neighbours – especially Herman Ivany, Rev. Dr. Eric and Onita King (New Mexico), and the congregation of Wesley United Church. Elsie brought Avon to Newfoundland in the early 1950’s and held a successful managerial position within the company for many years. She volunteered for and financially supported many worldwide organizations. Elsie loved to communicate. She wrote articles for the Seniors Resource Center and published a book called “Travel Mosaic” at the age of 87, and donated copies to all libraries in Newfoundland and Labrador in loving memory of her husband, Granville. Elsie will be deeply missed by everyone who had the opportunity to meet and know her. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Monday, February 18, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place from Wesley United Church on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at 11:00am, with a private family interment to follow.
